Top Web Design Tips for 2020
by Ali Razavi, Managing Director of razwerks Digital Marketing Agency

As a Marketing Company that specializes in Digital Marketing and Web Development, razwerks.com well qualified to be talking about web design.

Here are some overlooked, but crucial tips to follow on your next web design project!

1. The look of of the design is very important. In a world that is inundated with things that look shiny and perfect, clients have greater expectations from your website.

We're not saying they want you to have the most spectacular website layout design in the world but they also aren't going to be impressed by a web design layout that looks like its generic, or not thought out well, or just looks cheap.

The newer generations often correlate money with value, and your not going to get paid top dollar, if your website looks like it was made spending low dollar designers.

2. The design needs to be amazing, but not at the price of functionality. A great website layout design is also a site that is fully functional.

When we have to start wondering how to find something on a website, not only is that frustrating, that is a bad design.

Design thinks about the end user, and how they will interact and use the website, and if your web design requires a manual or instructions on how to use it, it may look beautiful and remarkable on the design end, but it will be a failure on the functionality end.

A good web design layout is also a functional web design layout.

3. KISS. Keep It Simple Stupid. There is a reason the phrase KISS has been around for a long time. Simplicity is often overlooked in all areas of life, but that is often where the winning is.

This is definitely true for a web development and design project.

You may think using cool effects to have elements slide into place, or sound effects when you put your mouse over an action button, or a parallax scrolling is a really cool and will make your website stand out.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but it won't.

User's don't think any of these features are great, and overwhelmingly make the wrong first impression when they see a web design using these features on their website.

4. If it isn't fast, its last. That's right, a good and functional website needs to be fast and load quickly. In an age where a good section of the population is used to viewing things a few seconds at a time, taking time to load your site to people discovering you on the web, isn't going to be winning any marks.

First off Google knows people don't want to wait for pages to load, so they set a 3 second target to meet their ranking factor for site speed, where in 3 your website should be loaded.

Making sure your website is intuitive and fast needs to be the #1 priority for 2020 for any web design project for any business!

There are a lot of questions we ask when we create clients websites.

Some just jump right in and dive headfirst into design and development, but from a best practices standpoint, it only make sense to take some time in the beginning to map out the clients needs and the customers needs from the website, then start the designing.

This way, the website can meet the needs of everyone involved - and still be beautiful, functional, and fast!
